There’s a quiet power in Jack Raymond’s voice that rare mix of grit and warmth that makes you stop and listen. It’s the sound of gum leaves cracking underfoot, the hum of a night drive, the ache of home when you’ve been gone too long.
Born in the Victorian High Country and now based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Jack’s music carries the fingerprints of the places that raised him. He calls it Mountain Roots a sound that blends the storytelling of folk with the heart of blues and the spirit of the Australian landscape. His songs are built from the ground up honest, weathered and human.
Jack started out busking in small country towns and working his way through the Australian Busking Championships before carving his name onto festival lineups nationwide. He’s played Woodford Folk Festival, Gympie Muster, Agnes Blues & Roots, Kiama Blues, Tamworth Country Music Festival and Wintermoon building a loyal audience the way real musicians do: one gig, one town, one connection at a time.
He’s shared stages with some of Australia’s most loved artists Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows, Kim Churchill, Hatz Fitz & Cara, Riley Pearce, Austin Mackay and Minnie Marks all while keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
When Jack performs live, there’s no artifice. It’s just him, a stomp box, and a guitar. But somehow the sound feels bigger as if every word and chord has a heartbeat of its own. His shows aren’t about polish or perfection; they’re about presence. You feel the stories. You feel the dust, the laughter, the road, and the life behind every note.
His upcoming album, Mr. Know It All, continues that journey a collection of songs born from experience, empathy and a love for community. Recorded at Scribble Gum Farm with producer Ryan Tracey, mixed by Angus at Glasshouse Studio, and mastered by Paul Blakey at 12th & Vine, it captures both the grit and grace of Jack’s storytelling.
In an age of filters and façades, Jack Raymond’s music stands out for what it doesn’t hide. It’s music that lives where the mountains meet the sea raw, rugged and real.
